On 22 November 2006, the Irish Exporters' Association announced DFDS Container Line, formerly Norfolkline Container Division, to be the winner of the Short Sea Shipping Award 2006. In Dublin, the prize was accepted by DFDS Sales Manager Ireland, Michael Connolly.
The other nominees for this Award were Burke Shipping Group, Dublin, Dublin Ferryport Terminal, Eucon Shipping and Transport, Dublin and Stenaline Dublin.
DFDS Container Line received the Award for providing direct port-to-port shipping schedules thus reducing transit times that could stand up to stiff competition from the roll on/roll off operators. Working closely with Ianroid Eireann, we have recently re-established a rail link between Ballina and Waterford Port. |
